Highlights: Our 2019 numbers

Overall
portfolio

Our financial commitment to our core programmes remained consistent in 2019.

As a founding philanthropic partner of Fashion for Good, C&A Foundation made significant investments early on which drove the foundation’s overall investment increase in 2016 and 2017. In the time Fashion for Good has established itself as a leading innovation platform in the sector, it has welcomed 18 corporate partners to the coalition. This allowed C&A Foundation to reduce our direct investments in Fashion for Good in recent years, while watching the positive social and environmental impacts of the innovations continue to grow.

Our 2019 partnerships

We have always been inspired by the energy, ideas and action of our partners around the world. Most of our relationships and remaining funding commitments to C&A Foundation’s partners will continue under Laudes Foundation.

In Mexico, where Laudes Foundation will not establish a presence, C&A Foundation partners will continue to receive core support for two years, allowing time to secure other donor support. Laudes Foundation has also established a €4 million Exit Fund which will provide transition support to Mexican civil society organisations working on the advancement of labour rights in the country. The fund will run until December 2023.

Active* grants by region/country

We know that change happens when we engage locally – with communities in apparel-producing countries, and with the grassroots civil society partners who serve them.

That’s why, in addition to collaboration and collective action initiatives, our partnerships with global reach represented 49% of our active grants in 2019.
